Ever find yourself stumbling upon an image you’d like to use from google just to realise that the solid background looks ugly and you just wish its a PNG file? Well we’ve all been there.
Here’s an easy way for you to remove any solid color background in a JPEG and covert them into a PNG file for a cleaner look. Here’s what you need:
- Any version of Photoshop
- A computer, and a mouse (Duh…)
1. First, load up your image on Photoshop. Then make sure you drag the lock symbol on the background layer to enable it for editing. Otherwise you will need to duplicate the later by Right-clicking and select Duplicate Layer.
2. Go up to the menu bar and go to “Select > Color Range”
3. Adjust the fuzziness slider to cover your entire background. You may also use the plus/minus eyedropper tool to remove or add areas you would like to cover. Remember, this only works if the colors selected are pretty much in the same shade and tone.
4. Once selected click Done, and marching ants would appear around the selection. Press Delete and you will notice your background is now gone leaving your with a grey and white checker board.
5. Go to “File > Save As > PNG. And you’re done!
