Its the hard truth. We never appreciate the beauty of our hometown until we leave it. This is the case for me of my beloved hometown, Ipoh. Tucked away nicely between Penang and Kuala Lumpur, this town, the size of Singapore in the silver state of Perak has grown in me a deep sense of nostalgic appreciation.
Now that I am relatively good at photography, I told myself that I must capture a little bit of home back with me to Singapore. and I did. Starting with the Ipoh Railway Station.
Abit of history, it is designed by Arthur Hubback. It was first constructed and opened in 1935, making it the second concrete station to be constructed in the town. The building also houses the hotel called the Majestic Hotel. Affectionately known as the Taj Mahal of Ipoh by its locals, it closely resembles its KL sister.
On the day that I arrived back to celebrate my two mothers birthday, I drove out with my camera during sunset. Unfortunately the sky was not as pleasant as it should be. But I still manage to get the shot above which I am quite sure no photographer has shot before.
A little bit of lightroom processing and bam! An iconic panoramic shot of The Majestic Station. Some things are still worth preserving.
